Thomas Kevin Nelson, DO, MPH, RPh

Dr. Nelson joined AMAS in February 2025 as a staff IMS physician. He is board-certified in Occupational/Environmental Medicine and Addiction Medicine, with extensive training and experience in primary care and pediatrics as both a physician and clinical pharmacist. He has served as an FAA Senior AME/IMS (HIMS-related) and Medical Review Officer, with expertise in fitness for duty, drug safety/toxicology, public health, epidemiology, and OSHA medical surveillance.

He is a graduate of Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy and Kansas City University of
Medicine, and received a Master in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB),
specializing in epidemiology. He has previously taught clinical pharmacy to medical residents and
PharmD residents and has conducted independent research in clinical pharmacology of aminoglycosides
in neonates, and in environmental epidemiology of congenital heart defects in infants in Texas.
