Mark R. Coakwell, MD, MPH

Dr. Coakwell joined the AMAS clinical staff in January 2025 with 30 years of experience as a US Air Force flight surgeon.  He is board certified in both Aerospace Medicine (since 2002) and Occupational Medicine (since 2003), and holds a Master of Public Health degree (2000).  He has extensive experience in the development and application of aeromedical policy, medical standards, and aviation safety programs at the local, major command, Air Force, and DoD levels, as well as in many deployed locations and settings.  Dr. Coakwell is a private pilot, and has previous experience as an FAA Aviation Medical Examiner.
